About The Event

Docent Training invites community members, educators, students, and history lovers to deepen their understanding of Baltimore’s civil rights legacy while learning the art of storytelling, public engagement, and interpretation. Participants will explore the life and work of Dr. Lillie Carroll Jackson and her family, examine key moments in local and national civil rights history, and gain practical tools for engaging diverse audiences.

Through guided discussions, gallery walk-throughs, and interactive activities, attendees will learn how docents bring history to life connecting past struggles to present-day conversations around justice, equity, and civic responsibility, while preparing them to lead a future tour in the museum.

Whether you are interested in becoming a docent, strengthening your public speaking skills, or simply engaging more deeply with Baltimore’s history, this training offers a meaningful and empowering experience.

Seating is limited. Registration is strongly encouraged.
